# Preparation

Preparing to go out into the field

Before you step into your vehicle and hit the record button there are a few things to consider.

* **Project** - Ensure you have all the necessary information regarding the project.
* **Weather** - Your recording system may not be waterproof and the project may require the roads to be dry. Check the weather forecast to ensure you are able to record during the planned day.
* **Route Planning** - plan the route and create an SHP file if practicable.
* **External Drives** - Verify that you bring enough drives along to store the data on.
